Biker Blues

1995

About

“On Sept. 22 at Richard’s on Richards. Trev Deeley Motorcycles and Harley Davidson presented Biker Blues, a benefit evening to help children with cerebral palsy. The GI BLUES band and special guests performed and the Karen Jamieson Dance Company choreographed and modelled a fashion show.

There was an auction with prizes such as a tattoo gift certificate and a weekend trip on a Harley Davidson. All proceeds went to benefit the Children’s Centre for Ability (at the Neurological Centre).”

- The Vancouver Sun, September 8, 1995

The theme of the evening was “Biker Blues.” Blues music was chosen by Karen and CFOX blues announcer Stormin’ Norman Casler. Ten individual vignettes were created using 4 male and 4 female dancers. Duets, trios, solos, quartets and group sections were included. The ten vignettes grew out of ten small choreographic ideas. Each was about 5 minutes long. Somewhat to our surprise, they all took off like crazy! What we created was fabulous. They were emotional, bluesy, sexy, and engaging. The crowd loved it, Trev Deeley Motorcycles loved it, and the CEO of Harley-Davidson Canada loved it.
