Reviews

“One of her newest pieces, (F)LIGHT, graphically underscores the theme of social menace and manipulation. In the manner of the mobile cameraman in Twyla Tharpe’s Bad Smells, a dancer with a mobile spotlight (and an on-off switch) effectively defines and emphasizes (controls) the way we see dancing.”

“She touches us with feeling”

“Through the use of spotlight an environment of light and dark was created for the dance F(LIGHT). The dark moments allowed Karen to move about the stage so the audience never knew where she would appear next. It was an interesting experiment but became tedious after a while. It would have been more effective if it was shorter.”
